Using procion dyes of the primary colors we can mix colors to make the color wheel of fat quarters. Students will need to bring 3 yards of washed, white cotton fabric.
Dyeing with Procion MX dyes, we will be mixing the three primary colors to create a fabric color wheel. We will be mixing our colors in cups and adding them to a fat quarter placed in a baggy. We will go over safety and what to do with your dyed pieces once you get home. To make it easier to wash out later, I would suggest (if you have the ability) to zigzag around the edges prior to class. It will lessen the amount of thread tangles when you wash your pieces. Dyeing fabric can be messy, so I suggest you either wear clothes that can be stained or bring an apron. Gloves, dyes, containers for mixing and baggies provided. If you have a plastic tub to transport your fabric home, that would be handy.
