Workshop Details

Card weaving, also referred to as tablet weaving, is an ancient craft. This warp faced weave has traditionally been use for making strong, narrow, decorative bands and belts. The materials required are very simple; yarn, cards, and a shuttle.


In this class, you'll learn to weave a narrow band consisting of 40 warp threads of three contrasting colors and 10 cards. There will be a chance to try several different patterns with this one warp.

Location: Alaskaland: First Presbyterian Church


Instructor: Dawn Ahlert


Age Range: 14 to Adult


Skill Level/Prior Skills Needed: Beginner - no experience needed


Materials Students Must Bring:

  • Belt (as in to hold up your pants)

  • Scissors

  • Tapestry needle

  • Pencil and paper to take notes

  • Anything else that helps you with your weaving such as reader glasses and a small light


Workshop Fee: $75*
