2026 Workshop Proposal Application

Thank you for your interest in teaching a workshop at the 2026 Fairbanks Fiber Festival!

Please read all of the details here and then submit your proposal below.

Important Dates:

  • Proposal Deadline: April 1, 2026

  • Instructors will be notified of decision by: April 30, 2026

  • If selected, instructors will need to confirm workshop details and complete required paperwork by: May 31, 2026

Workshop Dates & Locations:

  • Workshops will primarily be scheduled the weekend of the Fiber Festival (October 9-11) at various locations within Pioneer Park.

  • Additional workshops can also take place after the festival at the Fairbanks Weavers and Spinners Guild at the fairgrounds.

Workshop Fee Structure:

  • Generally, registration fees are $25/hour, with $13/hour per student going to the instructor. In some cases, we may adjust this up or down depending on the nature of the class but we will work with you on that.

  • Additional material fees can be added on by instructors, with 100% going to the instructor.

Pay What You Can Discounts:

  • Workshop registration is offered on a Pay What You Can basis, with discounts available to participants up to 30% off (excluding material fees). These discounts are offered in order to make our workshops accessible to more people in our community and costs are covered by the Fiber Festival so that instructors are still paid full price for their time.

Taxes:

  • All instructors will be required to fill out a W-9. Those who earn over $600 will receive a 1099 at the end of the year for tax purposes.

Visiting Instructor Scholarships:

  • For 2026, we have three Visiting Instructor Scholarships ($750 each) available to help with travel costs for instructors traveling to Fairbanks from remote areas of the state or from outside of Alaska!

If you have any questions, please reach out! fairbanksfiberfestival@gmail.com or 907-451-0691
